Ian Party – Founder, CEO, Design Director

Ian, a Lausanne native born in 1977, began his professional journey as a sign painter before transitioning into graphic design at the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). His passion for typography led him to further specialize through the Type and Media program at The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK).

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a mission to share his unique vision of type design with the world, Ian founded his first type design company, BP Foundry (Büchi and Party), in 2005. This venture eventually evolved into Swiss Typefaces in 2013. Ian served as the director of Swiss Typefaces and designed fonts for prestigious projects such as the signage for public transport in Dubai, eBay, Vogue magazine, and Esquire magazine.

Recognized as a leading expert in the field, Ian contributed his expertise as a teacher at ECAL from 2005 to 2016. His remarkable achievements include winning the Swiss Design Awards in 2005 and the Type Directors Club award in 2013. Among his notable creations are the renowned typefaces SangBleu and Suisse Int’l.

In 2019, Ian sold Swiss Typefaces and went on to establish Newglyph, where he continues to design all the Newglyph typefaces. He has been teaching at ZHDK in Zurich since 2022 and at ERACOM in Lausanne since 2020. Ian Party’s distinctive vision and expertise continue to shape the world of typography, inspiring new generations of designers.

Daniela Retana – Founder

Hailing from Mexico but raised in Los Angeles, Daniela Retana is a multi-talented artist, fashion designer, writer, and entrepreneur now based in Switzerland. Her educational journey led her to fine art studies at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. She further honed her skills by attending the California Institute of the Arts and later pursued a degree in fashion design at the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD).

With an eclectic background spanning various artistic disciplines, Daniela has made her mark in projects across art, fashion, graphic design, film, and music. Notable roles in her diverse career include Project Manager at Swiss Typefaces, Fashion Editor/Consultant for Sang Bleu magazine, and Fashion Designer for X-Girl. Her accomplishments have earned her recognition, including The Great Seal of the State of California, awarded as part of the 1999 Arts Scholar’s Recognition Program.

Dennis Moya Razafimandimby – Founder and Creative Director

Born in Geneva in 1991, Dennis Moya Razafimandimby, based in Lausanne, is a versatile designer, communication strategist, and curator with an impressive professional background. His career has seen him contribute his talents to renowned organizations such as Swiss Typefaces, Balmer Hählen, ECAL, and Horde, among others.

Dennis has not only excelled in his professional roles but has also shared his expertise as a lecturer at Eracom, where he imparted knowledge on contemporary graphic design history. His fervor for visual culture has driven him to initiate various creative community projects, including Ligature.ch, CuratedContent, Swissposters, Mosoma Archives, and Connections. With a rich tapestry of experiences, Dennis continues to be a driving force in the creative and design landscape.

Emeric Turcat – Founder, Director of Strategy and Finance

Emeric Turcat brings a robust educational background and extensive professional experience to his role as the Strategy and Finance Director at Newglyph. With a degree in engineering from ECAM in Lyon, France, a postgraduate degree from l’école Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada, and an MBA in entrepreneurial management and leadership, Emeric’s qualifications are a testament to his commitment to excellence.

Emeric’s multifaceted expertise encompasses business strategy, project management, and finance, making him an invaluable professional force. His unwavering dedication to detail is a cornerstone of his work philosophy. Each of our clients’ projects is meticulously managed with care and a profound understanding of their unique needs.
